The Social Dialogue Commission from the Ministry of Agriculture is analyzing a legislative project according to which the state might subsidize up to 80% the premium paid to farmers for their insurances - 26 March 2010
"The facility may become effective starting August", Adrian Radulescu, State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, mentioned. "The law no. 381/2002 will be thus modified, regarding the granting of compensations for farmers. The insurance companies will negotiate with farmers directly", said Radulescu.
According to the future Government Decision, the unfavourable meteorological phenomena must be confirmed by the National Administration of Meteorology, which, based on a contract-convention with the Ministry of Agriculture, supplies detailed information regarding the spreading area, the intensity of the unfavourable meteorological phenomena and their influence on crops/animals.
The beneficiaries of whose crops/animals have been damaged/affected by the natural catastrophes or unfavourable meteorological phenomena, which took place in a certain period of time, must submit to the County Directions for Agriculture and Rural Development, respectively Bucharest, a statement, on one's own responsibility. This statement must contain the number of dead animals on species and/or the damaged surfaces, on crops, according to the provided standard model.
