Mastitis means more abortions - August 24th, 2006
The number of abortions within a herd is related to the incidence of mastitis according to the latest US research. A study found
out that cows with mastitis are twice as likely to suffer an abortion.
The seven week period after insemination is most critical, as figures showed that 12% of the cows studied, aborted at this time.
The study also revealed that inseminating cows with mastitis can be waste of time and semen as just 15% will get in calf.
